In this edition, we’re hearing directly from Transportation Supervisor Brett Campbell about what happened with transportation this school year, why routing was so difficult, and what the district is doing to improve efficiency.

A few numbers that stood out:

📍About 5,500 students qualify for transportation

🚍About 4,000 students are transported to and from school each day

📉The district reduced the fleet by 12 buses and eliminated approximately 123 routes

💰The district estimates this could result in $500,000 or more in savings

📈Improving transportation efficiency could also bring in an estimated $375,000 more in state reimbursement

⚠️Campbell also addressed concerns about overcrowding, explaining that 7 of the district's 64 buses were affected and that 3 additional buses have already been added to address those issues.

He also explained the challenges caused by the new student information system, including having only about two weeks to work with updated student information before school started and approximately 1,800 students whose information affected routing.

🎥Watch the clip and hear Brett Campbell explain it directly.

This is exactly what the new Parma School Breakdown Shorts will be about: taking one important moment from a school board meeting and bringing it directly to you.

Information in this post comes from the Parma City School District Board of Education meeting.
